About this part

Gas hood struts on a full size Ford carry a heavy hood, and as the gas leaks out they stop holding it up. A hood that drifts down while you work is a real injury risk. This set gives you both struts, so the hood lifts evenly and the two sides wear at the same rate. Each strut is a sealed gas cylinder that mounts between the hood and the fender apron.

Fitment notes

Rows list the 827-024 for the 1997-2006 Ford Expedition and the 1997-2004 Ford F150, both with the original hood. A replacement steel or aftermarket hood may need different struts. Ford built the 2004 F150 in two body styles, so check yours. Confirm in the table or send your VIN to us.

Installation notes

Prop the hood open with a sturdy rod or have a helper hold it before removing the first strut. Release the end clips with a small screwdriver and fit the new struts the same way round as the old ones.
