Engine Mechanical
The engine mechanical department lists 758 parts from $3 to $546 for vehicles built from 1964-2025. It covers gaskets, timing parts, valvetrain parts, engine mounts and oil system parts. Select your year, make and model, then check the engine size on each listing before you order.

Gaskets include head gaskets, valve cover gaskets and intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, with head bolts listed too. Timing parts include timing belts, timing chains, chain tensioners and timing covers. For the valvetrain there are camshafts, rocker arms and valve covers. The oil system covers oil pumps, oil pans and oil filters. You will also find harmonic balancers, crankshaft pulleys, engine mounts, belts, piston ring sets and cam and crank position sensors. Brands include Dorman, Felpro, AC Delco, SKP and DIY Solutions.
Common engine wear signs
Oil seeping from the top of the engine often comes from a valve cover gasket. White exhaust smoke, coolant loss, overheating or milky oil can point to a failed head gasket. A rattle at startup on chain driven engines may mean a worn chain tensioner or guides. Heavy vibration, or a clunk when shifting between drive and reverse, can mean a broken engine mount. A harmonic balancer whose outer ring has slipped or wobbles should be replaced before the ring separates.
Ordering by engine
Most parts here are specific to engine code and displacement, not just the model. Dodge has strong coverage with the Dakota and Ram 1500, along with Chevrolet models such as the Camaro, Corvette and Malibu, and many of these were sold with several engine choices. Check the fitment table, and use your VIN if you are unsure which engine you have.
Follow the torque values and tightening sequence for your engine when installing head and manifold gaskets, and clean the mating surfaces carefully before assembly.
Engine Mechanical questions
Can I reuse head bolts?
It depends on the engine. Many modern engines use torque to yield head bolts that stretch when tightened and must be replaced. Some older engines allow reuse if the bolts are in good condition. Check the service information for your engine before reassembly.
What happens if a timing belt breaks?
The engine stops running immediately. On an interference engine, the pistons can hit open valves and cause serious internal damage. Replace the timing belt at the interval in your owner's manual, and replace the tensioner and idler pulleys at the same time.
How do I know if an engine mount is bad?
Signs include strong vibration at idle, a clunk when shifting between drive and reverse, and the engine rocking noticeably as it takes up load. Look for cracked or separated rubber, and for fluid leaking from hydraulic mounts.
