About this part

This Rhino Pac gas strut holds the Expedition's hood open so you can work under it with both hands free. Hood struts lose their gas charge over time, and cold weather makes a weak strut even weaker. When the hood will not stay up on its own, the strut needs replacing. The 4478 is sold as a single support, so order two if both sides are tired.

Installation notes

Secure the hood with a prop before you touch the old strut. Pry the end clips out slightly, pull the strut off the ball studs and snap the new one on. Replace both sides together for balanced lift.
