Air Mass Meter
An air mass meter, also called a mass air flow sensor, measures how much air enters the engine so the computer can add the right amount of fuel. We list 35 air mass meters from $11 to $234 for 1988-2021 vehicles. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Ford Escape have the most listings, with options for the Nissan Altima and Chevy Cruze.

Common failure signs
The meter sits in the intake tract between the air filter and throttle body. A heated wire or film inside cools as air passes, and the sensor turns that into a signal.
When it fails or gets dirty, you may see a check engine light, rough idle, hesitation, stalling after start, poor fuel economy or black smoke. Lean or rich codes can point here, but a vacuum leak can cause similar codes, so check the intake hose and connections first.
Probe or complete assembly
Some air mass meters are sold as a probe that plugs into your existing housing. Others are a complete assembly with the housing. Listings note whether the housing is included, so match it to what you plan to replace.
Compare the connector, mounting screws and housing diameter. Some listings include a gasket and instruction sheet. Brands here include A1 Cardone, SKP, AC Delco, Delphi, Standard Motor Products and Hitachi.
Install and fitment
Read the fitment table for engine size, as the same model often used different sensors by engine. Your old part number is the best cross reference.
Disconnect the plug, remove the clamps or screws, and fit the new sensor with the airflow arrow pointing toward the engine. Do not touch the sensing element. Replace a dirty air filter at the same time, since dust can foul a new sensor.
Air Mass Meter questions
Can I clean a mass air flow sensor instead of replacing it?
Sometimes. A spray made for MAF sensors can remove dirt, but it will not fix a failed element or circuit. If symptoms return, replace it.
Is an air mass meter the same as a MAF sensor?
Yes. Air mass meter and mass air flow sensor are two names for the same part, and you will see both used in listings.
Can a bad air mass meter cause stalling?
Yes. A wrong airflow reading can make the mixture too lean or too rich, which can lead to stalling, especially right after a cold start.
