Cabin Filter
A cabin filter cleans the air that comes through your heater and AC vents. We list 32 cabin filters from $5 to $85 for 2003-2026 vehicles, including particulate and activated carbon types. The Chevrolet Corvette has the most listings, along with the Toyota Highlander and Camry, Subaru Crosstrek, Hyundai Tucson and Honda models.

When to change it
The cabin filter traps dust, pollen, leaves and other debris before they reach the blower and evaporator. As it fills, airflow drops and odors can build.
Signs it is due include weak airflow from the vents, a musty smell, more dust on the dash, and windows that fog up and clear slowly. Follow the interval in your owner manual, and change it more often if you drive on dusty roads, in heavy traffic or in areas with lots of pollen.
Particulate or carbon
Particulate filters catch dust and pollen. Activated carbon or charcoal filters add a layer that helps reduce odors and some exhaust fumes. Carbon filters cost a little more and are a good choice for city driving.
Size matters. Our listings give length, width and height, such as about 8.43 in to 9.45 in long. Some vehicles have more than one filter, and listings name positions such as fresh air, under hood and front.
Fitment and install
Pick your vehicle and read the fitment table. Most cabin filters sit behind the glove box or under the cowl at the base of the windshield.
Note the airflow arrow on the old filter and install the new one facing the same way. Clean any leaves from the housing while it is open. If there is a musty smell, an evaporator cleaner made for automotive use can help.
Cabin Filter questions
How often should I replace my cabin air filter?
Check your owner manual. Many vehicles call for a yearly change or a set mileage, with shorter intervals in dusty or high pollen areas.
Is an activated carbon cabin filter worth it?
If you drive in traffic or notice odors coming into the cabin, a carbon filter helps. For basic dust and pollen, a particulate filter works well.
Can a dirty cabin filter affect AC performance?
Yes. A clogged filter reduces airflow, so the cabin cools and heats more slowly and the defroster works less well.
