Throttle Body Spacer
A throttle body spacer is a machined plate that fits between the throttle body or carburetor and the intake manifold. We list 33 spacers from $35 to $711 for 1988-2015 vehicles, from Airaid, Trans Dapt, Jet Chips, AFE and Motorcraft, with fits for the Ford F150, Chevrolet Tahoe and Dodge Ram 1500.

What a spacer does
The spacer moves the throttle body slightly away from the intake and adds a short section of passage for air. Some designs add a helical bore that aims to swirl incoming air. Carburetor spacers, such as 4-barrel open or 2-hole styles, also help insulate the carburetor from engine heat.
Results vary by engine. Treat a spacer as a modest bolt-on rather than a large power upgrade, and keep realistic expectations about any change in fuel economy.
Material and legality
Spacers are usually billet aluminum or cast aluminum, sometimes in a red anodized finish. Aluminum resists heat and corrosion and machines to tight tolerances.
Check the Street Legal and California Restricted fields. Some spacers are not legal for sale or use in California, or on emissions controlled vehicles in states that follow California rules. If your vehicle must pass an emissions inspection, choose a part marked street legal for your state.
Fitment and installation
A spacer must match your throttle body bolt pattern and bore size and may need longer bolts, which are usually included. Use the fitment table for your engine, such as a 5.4L or 5.7L, rather than the model name alone.
Disconnect the battery, remove the intake tube and throttle body, and fit the spacer with new gaskets. Check that the throttle linkage, sensor wiring and vacuum lines still reach without strain.
Throttle Body Spacer questions
Do throttle body spacers really increase horsepower?
Gains are usually small and vary by engine. Some owners notice a slight change in throttle feel. Do not expect large horsepower or mileage gains from a spacer alone.
Is a throttle body spacer legal in California?
Some are not. Listings show whether a spacer is restricted in California. Choose a street legal part if your vehicle must pass emissions or smog inspection.
Do I need new bolts for a throttle body spacer?
Usually yes, because the spacer adds thickness. Most kits include longer bolts and gaskets. Check the package contents before you start. Use the new gaskets supplied with the spacer as well.
