Headlight Switch
A headlight switch turns on your headlamps, parking lamps and often the dash and fog lights. We list 33 headlight switches from $18 to $201 for vehicles from 1967-2018, from Standard Motor Products, AC Delco and DIY Solutions, with the Chevrolet Camaro as one of the most listed fits.

What the switch controls
Depending on the vehicle, the headlight switch may run the headlamps, parking lamps, instrument panel lights, fog lamps, daytime running lamps and the automatic headlight feature. Listings show which functions each switch handles, so match these to your vehicle's features.
Older vehicles often use a push and pull knob on the dash, while many later models use a rotary dial or a stalk on the column.
Signs of a bad switch
Headlights that flicker, cut out, or will not turn on or off are common signs. Dash lights that stop dimming, parking lamps that stay on, or a switch that feels hot or loose also point to the switch. Older switches can overheat at the contacts.
Check fuses, bulbs and relays before you replace the switch. A burning smell near the switch means you should stop using it until repaired.
Choosing and installing
Match the year, trim and options. A vehicle with fog lamps or automatic headlights needs a switch with those functions. Compare the connector and knob style with your old switch.
Disconnect the battery before working on the switch. Some dash switches need you to press a release button to pull the knob shaft out first. Test every function before you reinstall the trim.
Headlight Switch questions
Can a bad headlight switch drain the battery?
Yes. A switch that fails to turn off the parking lamps or another circuit can leave a load on overnight. Look for lights that stay on with the key off.
Why do my headlights flicker?
A worn headlight switch is a common cause, along with loose connectors, poor grounds and a weak charging system. Check the switch and wiring before replacing lamps.
Does the headlight switch control fog lights?
On many vehicles, yes. Check the listed functions to confirm the switch matches your fog lamp and automatic headlight setup. A switch missing a function your vehicle needs will leave that circuit dead.
