Car Bra
A car bra is a fitted vinyl cover that wraps the front of the vehicle to guard the paint from stone chips and bug stains. We list 5 car bras from $84 to $119 for 1985-2007 vehicles, made by Covercraft and DIY Solutions. Fits include the Pontiac Firebird, Jeep Liberty and Wrangler, and Honda Civic.
What a car bra protects
The front bumper and hood edge take the most hits from small stones, sand and insects. A car bra adds a padded vinyl layer over those surfaces, which helps keep chips and bug stains off the paint on highway trips.
Our listings are black vinyl, and some use a T style design that covers the bumper and the front of the hood. Car bras are specific to each body shape, so they fit snugly around lights and grilles.
Care and paint safety
A car bra needs care to protect the paint underneath. Install it only on clean, dry paint, since trapped dirt can scratch the finish as the vinyl moves. Remove it after rain or washing so moisture does not sit against the paint.
Take it off from time to time to clean both the bra and the car. Paint under the bra fades less than exposed paint, so long periods on and off can leave a slight color difference.
Fitment and install
Pick your vehicle and read the fitment table for model, year and trim. Car bras are cut for one front end shape, so bumper or hood changes between years affect fit.
Lay the bra out in the sun to soften the vinyl before fitting. Hook the tabs at the wheel wells and under the hood edge, then stretch it evenly and fasten the straps. Check that it does not block the headlights or grille openings.
Car Bra questions
Can a car bra damage my paint?
It can if dirt or moisture gets trapped under it. Fit it on clean, dry paint and remove it after rain or washing.
Should I leave a car bra on all the time?
It is better to remove it now and then to clean the paint and let it dry. Leaving it on for months can lead to uneven fading.
Will a car bra fit any car?
No. Each bra is cut for a specific front end shape. Check the fitment table for your exact year and model before ordering.
