Car Cover
A car cover keeps dust, sap, bird droppings and sun off your paint when the vehicle sits outside or in storage. We list 35 car covers from $40 to $495, mostly from Covercraft and Rampage, with fits for the Ford F150, Explorer, Chevrolet Impala, Camaro and more.

Custom fit or semi-custom
A custom cover is patterned for one body style, so it follows the lines of the roof, hood and bumpers and has pockets cut for the mirrors. A universal or semi-custom cover is sized to a range of vehicles and costs less, but it fits more loosely and can flap in the wind. If your vehicle lives outdoors, a close fit matters more because a loose cover rubs the paint as it moves. Check each listing for mirror pockets, an antenna pocket and bumper accommodations.
Picking the right material
The covers here use multi-layer polypropylene fabrics and polyester. More layers generally add padding against dings and hail, while lighter fabrics are easier to fold and store. A breathable construction lets trapped moisture evaporate instead of sitting against the paint, which is the main thing to look for on any cover used outside.
Some covers are machine washable, which helps if the vehicle sits under trees. Colors listed include tan, gray, taupe and natural.
Fitting and using a cover
Pick your year, make and model so the list shows covers patterned for your body style. Cab size, bed length and aftermarket parts such as a roof rack, spoiler or tall antenna can change which cover fits a truck or SUV. Wash and dry the vehicle first, because grit trapped under a cover acts like sandpaper. Put the cover on from front to back, hook the mirror pockets, then secure the hems so wind cannot lift it.
Car Cover questions
Is a custom car cover worth it over a universal one?
For outdoor use, usually yes. A custom cover sits snugly and moves less in the wind, so it is less likely to scuff the paint or blow off. A universal cover is fine for short-term indoor dust protection at a lower price.
Can I put a car cover on a wet car?
It is better not to. Even a breathable cover traps some moisture against the paint for a while. Let the vehicle dry first, and remove the cover after heavy rain if water has soaked through so the surface can air out.
Do I need a cover with an antenna pocket?
Only if your antenna is fixed and cannot be removed or retracted. Check the listing for an antenna pocket, or plan to unscrew the mast before covering the vehicle so it does not stretch or tear the fabric.
