What the panel does
The mounting panel, sometimes called a headlamp bracket or header panel section, gives the headlight a solid base so it stays aimed. On many trucks it also supports the grille edges and the turn signal lamps.
Panels crack in front end collisions, and older metal panels can rust through. A broken panel lets the headlight move, which throws the beam off and can cause rattles.
Side and quality level
Panels are sold individually and listed by side. Left means the driver side and right means the passenger side. Order both if the damage spans the full front.
Quality levels shown on listings include CAPA certified, which is tested for fit against the original, value line, and premium new replacement. Some listings show the original part number they replace, which is useful for checking your old panel.
Fitting tips
Front end parts often change with trim and grille style, so confirm the year, trim and headlight type in the fitment table. Look for the factory part number on the old panel if it is still readable.
Loosely fit the panel, headlight and grille together before tightening any bolts so the gaps line up. Check the headlight aim after the job.
Headlight Mounting Panel questions
Is a headlight mounting panel sold as a pair?
The panels here are sold individually by side. Order a left and a right panel if both sides are damaged. Each listing shows which side it fits, so you can mix and match as needed.
What does CAPA certified mean for a mounting panel?
CAPA certified parts are independently tested to fit and perform like the original. It is one of the quality levels you can choose in this category.
Do I need to aim the headlights after replacing the panel?
Yes. A new panel can change where the headlight sits, so check and adjust the aim once everything is tight. Aim against a flat wall using the distance given in your service guide.
