Plastic fender liners crack from impacts, hard curbs, snow and ice buildup, or get torn when a tire rubs. Missing clips let them sag and flap, which can cause a rubbing noise as the wheel turns.
A damaged liner lets spray reach wiring, the air intake and the inside of the fender, which can speed up rust and corrosion. Liners are also commonly replaced after front end collision repair.
Liners are shaped for one side. Listings name the position, such as front left driver side or front right passenger side. Some vehicles also use rear liners.
Quality levels shown include CAPA certified, which is tested for fit against the original, and premium new replacement. Use the fitment table to check year, trim and body style, since liners can change with bumper style or a facelift.
Turning the steering wheel to full lock gives room to reach the front of the liner. Loosen the wheel lug nuts and remove the wheel if the liner is hard to reach.
Old plastic push clips often break, so have a set of new clips ready. Fit the liner loosely first, check its position around the bumper and fender, then secure all fasteners. Turn the wheels lock to lock to make sure the tire does not rub.
You can for a short time, but water, salt and debris will reach the engine bay and body seams. Replace it soon to protect wiring and prevent rust.
Usually not. Old clips often break during removal, so buy a set of the correct size before you start. Clip sizes vary by vehicle, so match the old ones.
Left is the driver side on a US vehicle and right is the passenger side. Listings name the position so you can pick the correct one.
