Trunk Seal
We list 30 trunk seals from $22 to $89 for Mercedes models built from 1963-1993, nearly all from APA/URO Parts. Fits include the 300D, 300SD, 280S, 280SE, 450SE and the 230SL and 250SL roadsters. A fresh seal keeps rain, dust and exhaust fumes out of your trunk.

Why trunk seals wear out
The trunk seal is a rubber strip that runs around the trunk opening and compresses when you close the lid. On cars this age, the rubber has usually gone hard, cracked or flat.
Watch for water pooling in the spare tire well, a musty smell, rust starting in the trunk floor, or exhaust smell in the cabin. A worn seal can also let dust in on gravel roads.
Matching your Mercedes
Mercedes used different trunk openings across its sedan, coupe and roadster lines. A 300D sedan seal will not fit a 230SL roadster. Listings name the part number and the model, so compare these with your car.
Use the fitment table to confirm the chassis and year. If your car has been repainted or had body work, check the flange is straight and free of rust before fitting a new seal, or it will not seal well.
Fitting the new seal
Remove the old seal and clean the flange of old adhesive, dirt and rust. Treat any bare metal before fitting the new rubber.
Start the new seal at the center of the lower edge and work around, pushing it fully onto the flange. Do not stretch it in the corners. Close the lid and check that it latches with normal effort. A new seal may feel stiff at first and settle after a few days.
Trunk Seal questions
Why is water getting into my Mercedes trunk?
A hard or cracked trunk seal is the most common cause. Also check the tail light gaskets and the rear window seal, which can leak into the trunk on older cars.
Do I need adhesive to install a trunk seal?
Many push-on seals grip the flange without glue. Some installers use a small amount of weatherstrip adhesive at the joint. Follow the instructions supplied with the seal.
Will a 300D trunk seal fit a 300SD?
Not necessarily. These are different body styles with different trunk openings. Check the fitment table for your exact model and year. A sedan and a coupe of the same series can also differ.
