Intake Manifold Gasket
An intake manifold gasket seals the joint between the intake manifold and the cylinder heads. We carry 33 intake manifold gaskets and sets from $7 to $74 for engines from 1981-2024, from Felpro, APEX, SKP and VR Gaskets, with fits for the Chevrolet Camaro and Silverado 1500 and the Ford F150.

Signs of a leaking gasket
A leaking intake gasket can cause a vacuum leak, rough idle, lean codes, misfires and poor fuel economy. On engines where coolant passes through the manifold, a failed gasket can leak coolant outside or into the engine, which can show up as coolant loss, overheating or milky oil.
Some GM V6 and V8 engines are known for intake gasket coolant leaks, so check the area around the manifold for dried coolant residue.
Upper, lower and full sets
Some engines use separate upper and lower manifolds, so gaskets are listed as upper, lower, or upper and lower sets. Full sets may include end seals, distributor gaskets, plenum gaskets and RTV, while basic sets include only the side gaskets.
Match the engine size, year and gasket material in the fitment table. Some sets are also listed for LS swap builds.
Doing the job right
Clean both sealing surfaces carefully. Use plastic scrapers on aluminum, and keep debris out of the intake ports and coolant passages. Apply sealant only where the instructions say, such as the corners where end seals meet the heads.
Tighten manifold bolts in the stated sequence and torque. Refill and bleed coolant, and recheck for leaks after the engine has gone through a few heat cycles.
Intake Manifold Gasket questions
Can a bad intake manifold gasket cause coolant loss?
Yes, on engines where coolant flows through the manifold. A failed gasket can leak coolant outside or into the engine. Watch for coolant loss or milky oil.
Should I replace upper and lower intake gaskets together?
If your engine has both and you are removing the lower manifold, replace both sets. The upper must come off first anyway. Order both sets together to avoid a second teardown.
Do I need sealant with an intake manifold gasket?
Some sets include RTV for specific spots, such as the end seal corners. Use sealant only where the gasket instructions call for it. Too much sealant can squeeze into the ports.
