Air Compressor

An air suspension compressor pumps air into the springs or struts that hold up vehicles with air ride. Our catalogue has 42 air compressors from $63 to $716 for 1997-2020 vehicles. The GMC Yukon and Ford Expedition have the most listings, along with the Ram 1500, Silverado 1500, Land Rover LR3 and Cadillac models.

Signs the compressor is failing

The compressor runs when ride height sensors call for more air. It feeds the air springs through a valve block and a dryer that removes moisture.

Warning signs include a vehicle that sits low, a compressor that runs for long periods or constantly, a suspension warning on the dash, slow rise after starting, and a loud or grinding compressor. A leaking air spring or line makes the compressor work harder and often kills it, so look for leaks before you blame the compressor alone.

What to compare

Some listings include the compressor alone, while others come with a case, bracket or mounting hardware. A few name the front or rear position for vehicles with more than one unit.

Check the connector and air line fittings against your old compressor. Brands here include Dorman, Arnott, Unity, DIY Solutions, SKP and Firestone Ride-Rite. If your vehicle has a separate dryer, consider replacing it at the same time.

Install and fitment advice

Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands, since an air suspension vehicle can drop when pressure is released. Some vehicles have a service mode that disables leveling before you lift them. Check your owner manual or service manual.

Read the fitment table for trim and drive type. Some trims came with air ride and others did not, so confirm your vehicle has the system. Compare the part number on the old unit before ordering.

Air Compressor questions

Why does my air suspension compressor run all the time?

Constant running usually means a leak in an air spring, line or valve block, so the system cannot hold pressure. Find and fix the leak or the new compressor will wear quickly too.

Can I drive with a failed air suspension compressor?

You can sometimes drive slowly, but the vehicle may sit very low and handle poorly. Long trips at low ride height can damage tires and suspension parts.

Should I replace the air dryer with the compressor?

If your system has a separate dryer, replacing it is good practice. A saturated dryer lets moisture into the system, which can damage valves and the new compressor.
