About this part

The catalytic converter cleans exhaust gases before they leave the tailpipe. A failed or clogged converter can set efficiency codes, cause a rattle, or cut power. Catco 5221 is a direct fit unit for the front position, built to bolt in where the original sits. The catalog lists it as covering Federal and California emissions, but it also states sales and use limits in several states, so read the fitment notes carefully.

Fitment notes

Catco 5221 is listed for the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox with the 2.4L four cylinder, front position. The catalog says it is not for sale or use on vehicles licensed in California, Colorado, Maine or New York, and other states may restrict it. Check your state rules, the fitment table, or send your VIN.

Installation notes

Let the exhaust cool fully and support the vehicle on jack stands. Soak flange bolts in penetrating oil and use new gaskets. Inspect the oxygen sensors and fix any misfire or oil burning first, since those problems destroy new converters.
