About this part

The AC compressor control relay lets a small signal from the control module switch the heavy current the compressor clutch needs. When the relay fails, the clutch never engages and the vents blow warm air, even with a full refrigerant charge. The RY-612 is a plug-in replacement relay from Standard Motor Products. It is cheap, quick to test and one of the first things to check on a Ram with no AC.

Installation notes

Turn the ignition off before pulling the relay. Check the cavity for corrosion or melted terminals. You can swap in an identical relay from another circuit to test, but put the correct one back afterward.
