About this part

Your engine computer uses the idle air control valve to open and close a small air passage around the throttle plate. That is how it raises idle when the AC kicks on or the engine is cold. A worn valve can cause a high idle, a surge at stoplights or stalling. The AC73 from Standard Motor Products replaces the factory valve on these Magnum gas engines. Clean the throttle body when you replace it so the new valve has a clear passage.

Installation notes

Disconnect the battery. Remove the two screws holding the valve to the throttle body, then clean the bore with throttle body cleaner. Fit the new O-ring, reconnect everything, and let the engine idle a few minutes to relearn.
