About this part

On the 2.2L Accord, the EGR valve meters exhaust gas back into the intake under cruise conditions to reduce NOx and combustion temperature. Carbon buildup eventually sticks the valve open or shut. Stuck open, it causes a rough or stalling idle; stuck shut, it can cause pinging and an EGR flow code. The EGV529 is Standard Motor Products' replacement valve for this engine. It does not list gaskets as included, so plan to buy one if needed.

Fitment notes

Rows list the EGV529 for the 1996 Honda Accord 25th Anniversary Edition and the 1997 Honda Accord DX, both with the 2.2L four cylinder. V6 Accords use a different valve. Check that your engine matches, then confirm in the fitment table or send your VIN for a check.

Installation notes

Disconnect the battery before unplugging any sensor on the valve. Scrape carbon from the intake port and check the EGR passages, which often clog on these engines. Use a new gasket and tighten the bolts evenly.
