Cloyes 9-5424 maintains tension on the right bank secondary timing chain. It is a new, gray tensioner. Cloyes states its tensioners are designed with CAD, made from premium materials, measured and tested, and meet or exceed OEM performance. Rattle from the front of the engine at start up or timing related fault codes are common signs the tensioners and guides are worn.

Fitment notes

Listed for the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 and the 2007 Ram 2500, both with the 4.7L V8, right side only. The left side tensioner is a separate part. Check your engine and year in the fitment table, or send your VIN.

Installation notes

Replace the chain, guides and sprockets along with the tensioners, as Cloyes advises. Disconnect the battery and lock the cams at the correct timing position before removing anything. Change the oil when the job is done.
