When to replace a cornering light

Cornering lamps sit low on the front corners, so they take hits from stones, parking bumps and car washes. Replace the assembly when the lens is cracked, the housing has moisture or condensation inside, the reflector has gone dull, or the mounting tabs are broken. If the lamp simply does not light, check the bulb and socket first, since a bulb is cheaper than a full housing. A cloudy or yellowed lens also reduces how much light reaches the road.

Side, sets and bulbs

Listings are marked driver side or passenger side, also shown as left or right. Some are sold as 2 piece sets, which keeps both sides looking the same, especially when the old lenses have faded unevenly. Check whether bulbs are included or whether you reuse yours. Listings show housing color, such as chrome, and lens color, such as clear. Direct fit lamps mount to the original locations without modifying the body.

Fitting the new lamp

Select your year, make and model and check the fitment table for trim and body style, since some trims used different front lighting. Compare the mounting tabs and connector with your old lamp. Turn the lights off before swapping bulbs and avoid touching the glass of halogen bulbs with bare fingers. After installing, test the lamp with the turn signal and headlights on, as cornering light operation differs by vehicle.

Cornering Light questions

What is the difference between a cornering light and a turn signal?

A turn signal flashes to show other drivers where you are going. A cornering light shines steadily to the side to light the area you are turning into. On some vehicles they share a housing.

Should I replace both cornering lights at once?

If only one is damaged you can replace one, but an older lens on the other side may look faded next to a new one. A 2 piece set keeps the front end matching.

Are bulbs included with cornering lights?

It depends on the listing. Some include bulbs and some do not. Check the bulbs included field, and plan to reuse or buy bulbs if they are not supplied.
