Wheel Bearing
Wheel bearings let each wheel spin smoothly while carrying the weight of your vehicle. We list 36 bearings from $8 to $187 for 1957-2021 vehicles, from Timken, National, SKF, AC Delco and FAG, with many for the Chevrolet Camaro and others for the Toyota Tundra, Audi A4 Quattro and Ford Escape.

Signs of a worn wheel bearing
The classic symptom is a hum, growl or roar that gets louder with speed and may change as you turn left or right. Other signs include play in the wheel when you rock it at the top and bottom, uneven tire wear and an ABS warning on vehicles with a sensor near the bearing.
A badly worn bearing can overheat and fail, so do not ignore the noise for long.
Bearing types and positions
Older vehicles use tapered roller bearings with separate inner and outer bearings and races, which are packed with grease and adjusted. Many newer vehicles use a sealed bearing pressed into the knuckle, or a bolt-in hub assembly.
Listings show positions such as front, rear, front inner and front outer, plus details like flange type, lug count and ABS sensor design. Some kits include several pieces. Match these to your vehicle and the old part number.
Installation notes
Pressed-in bearings need a hydraulic press or a bearing tool kit. Do not hammer on a new bearing. Tapered bearings must be packed with the correct grease and set to the specified preload, with a new seal and cotter pin.
Support the vehicle on stands and torque the axle nut to spec. Check the fitment table for drive type, because 2WD and 4WD or AWD versions often use different bearings.
Wheel Bearing questions
How do I tell which wheel bearing is bad?
Drive at a safe speed and gently sway left and right. The noise often gets louder when weight shifts onto the bad bearing. A shop can confirm with the wheel raised.
Should I replace wheel bearings in pairs?
It is not required, but many owners replace both on the same axle at high mileage, since the other side has the same wear. Check the other side for play while the vehicle is raised.
Is a wheel bearing the same as a hub assembly?
Not always. A hub assembly includes a bearing sealed in a housing with the flange. Some vehicles use separate bearings pressed into the knuckle. Check your vehicle's design in the fitment table.
