Driveshaft & Axle
The driveshaft and axle department lists 394 parts from $8 to $785 that carry power from the transmission to the wheels. It covers CV axles, driveshafts, wheel bearings, wheel hubs and locking hubs for vehicles built from 1957-2025. Select your vehicle and drive type to see the parts that fit.

What this department covers
You will find 41 axles, 38 CV joints, 30 CV boots, 36 wheel bearings and 36 wheel hubs. Driveshaft parts include complete driveshafts, flex joints, driveshaft supports and driveshaft bearings, and there are locking hubs for four wheel drive trucks. Wheel covers and some wheels are listed here as well. Brands include Dorman, Action Crash, AC Delco, SKP and DriveBolt. Chevrolet, Ford and BMW have the most listings, with the Camaro, Equinox, Silverado 1500 and Explorer well covered, along with Toyota, Jeep and Volkswagen.
Signs of driveline wear
A clicking noise when turning sharply is the classic sign of a worn outer CV joint. A torn CV boot slings grease around the wheel well and lets dirt in, and the joint usually wears out soon after. A humming or growling noise that rises with speed often points to a wheel bearing. Vibration that builds with speed can come from a worn U joint, center support bearing or flex joint in the driveshaft. A clunk when shifting into drive or reverse can mean wear somewhere in the driveline.
Choosing by drive type and side
Drive type matters here. Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, all wheel drive and four wheel drive versions of the same model often use different axles, hubs and driveshafts. Check the fitment table for drive type, transmission and position. For wheel hubs, note whether your vehicle has an ABS sensor built into the hub. Left and right axles are often different lengths. Support the vehicle on jack stands, and torque the axle nut and hub bolts to the specification for your vehicle.
Driveshaft & Axle questions
Can I replace just a torn CV boot?
Yes, if the joint has not started clicking and the grease is still clean. A boot kit is the cheaper repair. If the boot has been torn for a while and dirt has got in, the joint is likely worn, and a complete axle is often the simpler fix.
How do I tell which wheel bearing is bad?
A bad bearing usually hums or growls and gets louder with speed. With the vehicle safely raised on stands, rock each wheel top to bottom and spin it by hand to feel for play or roughness. A scan tool may also show ABS codes from a hub with a built in sensor.
What does a locking hub do?
On many part time four wheel drive trucks, locking hubs connect or disconnect the front wheels from the front axle. Unlocked, the wheels do not turn the front driveline, which reduces wear. Locked, they let the front axle drive the wheels in four wheel drive.
