Accelerator Pedal Sensor
An accelerator pedal sensor tells the engine computer how far you are pressing the gas pedal on vehicles with electronic throttle. We list 30 accelerator pedal sensors from $42 to $224 for 1994-2019 vehicles. AC Delco makes half of them, with strong coverage for the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, Silverado 1500 and Impala.

Signs of a failing sensor
Most modern vehicles have no throttle cable. The pedal sensor sends two or more signals to the computer, which opens the throttle body to match. The computer compares the signals to catch faults.
When the signals disagree, you may see a check engine or reduced power light, the vehicle may go into limp mode with limited throttle, or acceleration may hesitate and surge. Diagnostic codes for pedal position sensor circuits are the clearest sign.
Sensor or full pedal
On many vehicles the sensor is built into the pedal assembly and is not sold separately. Many listings here are complete accelerator pedals with the sensor attached, sometimes with mounting bolts.
Check the pedal length and connector against your old unit. Lengths in these listings range from 12 in to 14 in. Trucks with adjustable pedals need a different assembly than those without, so confirm that detail first.
Install and fitment
Disconnect the battery before unplugging the sensor. The pedal usually mounts with a few bolts to the firewall bracket. After install, some vehicles need a relearn procedure, such as cycling the ignition or using a scan tool.
Read the fitment table for engine, cab and pedal options, and compare the part number on your old pedal. Your VIN is the surest way to confirm the right assembly.
Accelerator Pedal Sensor questions
Can a bad accelerator pedal sensor cause limp mode?
Yes. When the computer sees conflicting pedal signals it limits throttle to protect you, which is often called limp mode or reduced power.
Do I have to replace the whole accelerator pedal?
On many vehicles, yes. The sensor is built into the pedal assembly. Check the listing to see whether it is a sensor only or a complete pedal.
Does a new pedal sensor need programming?
Most do not need programming, but some vehicles run a relearn when you cycle the ignition. Check your service manual for the exact steps.
