Fuel Injection
Fuel Injectors
Fuel injectors spray a measured mist of fuel into the engine, and a clogged or leaking one can cause misfires and poor economy. We carry 35 fuel injectors from $3 to $442 for engines from 1981-2015, with brands such as GB Remanufacturing, AC Delco, Accel and Standard Motor Products.

How injectors fail
The engine computer opens each injector for a set time to deliver fuel. Over the years, deposits can block the nozzle and upset the spray pattern, the internal coil can fail, and the O-rings can harden and leak.
Typical symptoms include a misfire on one cylinder, a rough idle, hesitation, a fuel smell, black smoke, or a check engine light with a misfire or lean code. A leaking injector can also cause hard starting after the engine sits.
Flow rate, quantity and connectors
Injectors are rated by flow. Listings in this category include 19 lbs./hr. and 24 lbs./hr. examples, and the rate must match what your engine computer expects. Check the connector style and the O-ring sizes against your old injector.
Some listings are single injectors and some are sets of 8. Replacing a full set keeps flow even across cylinders on high mileage engines. Some injectors include O-rings, which should always be replaced with the injector.
Fitment and installation
Use the fitment table to confirm engine size and year, since one model, such as the Chevrolet Camaro or Ram 2500, can use several injector types over its run. Compare the part number on your old injector, and check your VIN if your model offered more than one engine.
Relieve fuel pressure before removing the fuel rail, and disconnect the battery. Lightly lubricate new O-rings with clean engine oil so they seat without tearing. Check for leaks with the key on before you start the engine.
Fuel Injectors questions
Should I replace all fuel injectors at once?
If only one injector has failed on a low mileage engine, replacing that one is common. On a high mileage engine, many owners replace the full set so all cylinders get the same flow.
What does lbs./hr. mean on a fuel injector?
It is the injector's flow rating in pounds of fuel per hour at a set pressure. Use the rating your engine was built with unless you are tuning the engine for a different injector.
Are remanufactured fuel injectors a good option?
Remanufactured injectors are cleaned, tested and fitted with new seals and filters. Brands such as GB Remanufacturing offer them for many engines, often at a lower cost than new.
