Throttle Body
The throttle body controls how much air enters the engine when you press the gas pedal. We list 33 throttle bodies from $76 to $442 for 1987-2025 vehicles, including AC Delco, Bosch and BBK units, with many for the Chevrolet Camaro and others for the Honda Accord and Jeep Patriot.

Signs of a throttle body problem
On older engines a cable opens the throttle plate. On most newer engines an electric motor opens it, and the engine computer reads its position through sensors.
Common symptoms of trouble include rough or surging idle, stalling when you come to a stop, hesitation on acceleration and a reduced power mode with a warning light. Carbon buildup around the plate causes many idle problems, so try a careful cleaning with throttle body cleaner before replacing a unit that is otherwise working.
Choosing a replacement
Throttle bodies are matched to the engine, the fuel system and the control type. Listings note the injection type, such as multi-port or direct injection, and whether parts like the idle air control motor are included.
Performance units, such as BBK twin bore designs, have larger bores than stock. They can need tuning to run well. For a daily driver, a direct replacement that matches your engine code and connector is the simplest choice.
Fitment and setup
Use the fitment table to confirm your engine size and year, and compare the connector, bolt pattern and part number with your old unit. Engines with the same displacement can use different throttle bodies across years.
Always fit a new gasket. Electronic throttle bodies may need an idle relearn after installation, which some vehicles do automatically and others need a scan tool for. Disconnect the battery before you unplug the electrical connector.
Throttle Body questions
Should I clean my throttle body before replacing it?
Yes, if the symptoms are rough idle or stalling. Carbon buildup is common and cleaning often helps. Replace the unit if it has an electrical fault code or a damaged motor.
Do I need to relearn the idle after installing a throttle body?
Many electronic throttle bodies need an idle relearn. Some vehicles relearn after a short drive, while others need a scan tool procedure. Check the service information for your vehicle.
Will a larger throttle body add horsepower?
A larger bore can help on engines with other airflow upgrades, but gains on a stock engine are often small. Many performance units also need a tune to run correctly.
