About this part

The blower motor resistor sets the fan speeds for your heater and air conditioning. When it fails, the fan often works only on the highest setting, or some speeds stop working. Heat at the resistor can also melt or burn the wiring plug. This Dorman kit includes a new connector along with the resistor, so you can replace a damaged plug at the same time.

Fitment notes

Part 973-426 is listed for the 2001-2004 Dodge Dakota. The row gives no trim or HVAC limit, but compare the connector and mounting tabs to your old resistor. Splicing the new connector into the harness is required if you replace the plug. Confirm your truck in the fitment table above, or send us your VIN.

Disconnect the battery before working on the HVAC wiring. If the old plug is melted, cut it off and splice in the new connector with sealed butt connectors. Check the blower motor draw, since a worn motor can burn out the new resistor.
