About this part
Variable valve timing solenoids direct oil pressure to the cam phasers so the engine computer can advance or retard the camshafts. When a solenoid sticks or its screen clogs, you can get a check engine light with cam timing codes, rough idle and poor fuel economy. This replacement kit includes both solenoids, one for the intake cam and one for the exhaust cam, so both sides are renewed together.
Fitment notes
The catalog lists 108-015*108-016 for the 2010-2017 Chevrolet Equinox and the 2009-2014 Chevrolet Malibu. Several rows name the 2.4L 4 cylinder, and V6 engines are not listed. Make sure your engine is the 2.4L before ordering. The fitment table above lists each version, and we can check your VIN too.
Specifications and features

- Includes 1 exhaust solenoid
- Type: variable valve timing (VVT)
- Engine shown in rows: 2.4L 4 cylinder
Installation notes
Disconnect the battery before unplugging the solenoids. Clean around the bores first so no dirt enters the engine. Lightly oil the new O-rings. Change the oil if it is dirty, since sludge is a common cause of VVT faults, and clear the codes afterward.
