2500 HD blower fitment by body

Treat each body as its own fitment group: 2001-2006, 2007-2014, 2015-2019 and 2020-2022. The 2007 model year includes Classic trucks on the older body, and listings here note Classic fitment where it applies. GM lists one motor for many 2007-2014 cab and chassis and crew cab trucks, but not every HVAC setup.

The blower is tied to the HVAC housing and wiring more than to engine, bed, drive type or trim. Some listings note automatic temperature control, so check whether your truck has it. Compare the connector, terminal count, mounting flange, shaft, fan wheel diameter and rotation with your old motor, and confirm it is a 2500 HD part, not a 1500 or 3500 HD.

Signs of a failing blower motor

Worn brushes and bearings cause weak airflow, a blower that cuts in and out, and squealing or grinding from behind the passenger side of the dash. Eventually the fan stops completely.

If the blower works only on some speeds, the resistor or its circuit is the more likely cause, not the motor. A blown fuse, a bad relay, a faulty switch or control head and a melted connector can also stop the blower. Leaves and debris in the HVAC housing can make a motor noisy or overload it. Test the circuit before you buy a motor.

Replacing a Silverado 2500 HD blower

Read each listing to see if you get the motor alone or the motor with the squirrel cage fan wheel, and do not assume a resistor or connector is included. The motor sits under the passenger side of the dash on documented trucks.

On 1999-2007 style trucks, remove the lower dash or kick panel, unplug the motor, release the locking tab and twist the blower out. Later trucks may use T15 or T20 screws or a similar twist lock. Look at the connector for heat damage and replace it if the terminals are burnt. Clear debris from the housing. If speeds were missing, replace the resistor or control module as well.

Silverado 2500 HD questions

Why does my Silverado 2500 HD blower only work on high?

That usually points to the blower motor resistor or its circuit, not the motor. Test the resistor and check its connector for heat damage before ordering a new blower motor.

Where is the blower motor on a Silverado 2500 HD?

On documented trucks it sits under the passenger side of the dash. You usually reach it by removing the lower dash or kick panel. Fasteners vary by year, from a twist lock to small Torx screws.

Does a 2007 Silverado 2500 HD Classic use the same blower as the new body?

Treat them as separate applications. The Classic kept the older body, and listings here mark Classic fitment where it applies. Check your body style in the fitment table.
