1992 Toyota Camry Air Mass Meter Boots

Buy Toyota Camry air mass meter boots online for 1991-2001 cars. There are 9 intake boots here from $31.58 to $130.58, made by Dorman and MTC plus a Genuine Toyota part. The boot is the flexible duct between the airflow meter and the throttle body, and its shape changes with the engine, whether that is the 2.2L four or the 2.5L or 3.0L V6.

Match engine and duct shape

Camry intake boots are molded for one engine and intake layout, so the four-cylinder and V6 parts are different even in the same year. Fitment samples here include the 2.2L four-cylinder, the 2.5L V6 and the 3.0L V6, including LE models. Some 1991 Camrys were built as All-Trac 4WD cars, so do not assume their parts match the 2WD cars.

Toyota may call this part an air cleaner hose, intake air hose or air flow meter hose. Some listings mean the short boot after the meter, others the full duct from air cleaner to throttle body. Compare the length, bends, number of folds, inside diameters and any molded breather or PCV nipples with your old boot.

Cracks and unmetered air

Rubber intake boots harden and crack with age, most often in the accordion folds and on the underside. A split, a torn end or a broken nipple lets air in after the meter, so the engine computer does not see it.

That can cause a rough or unsteady idle, hesitation, stalling, lean running, weak power, poor fuel economy and a check engine light. A vacuum leak elsewhere, a dirty airflow meter or an ignition fault can do the same, so flex the boot and inspect it before you order.

Fitting the new boot

Most listings are a single molded boot, with no clamps, breather hoses or meter included. Squeeze and bend the old boot to find hidden cracks, and a smoke test is the surest way to confirm a leak.

Move any breather or PCV hose over carefully, push the new boot fully onto both outlets and tighten the clamps without crushing the rubber. Replace rusted clamps and brittle connected hoses at the same time. If you reuse the airflow meter, keep dirt and solvents away from its sensing element.

Camry questions

Do 4-cylinder and V6 Camrys use the same air mass meter boot?

No. The 2.2L four and the 2.5L and 3.0L V6 engines use different intake ducts. Pick your engine in the fitment table and compare the shape with your old boot.

Can a cracked intake boot cause a rough idle on my Camry?

Yes. A crack after the airflow meter lets in unmeasured air, which can cause a rough idle, hesitation and stalling. Other vacuum leaks can do the same, so inspect first.

Does a Camry air mass meter boot include clamps?

Most listings are the molded boot only. Reuse your clamps if they are in good shape, or replace them if they are rusted or stretched.
