Mirror

A side mirror gives you a clear view of the lanes beside and behind your vehicle, and newer ones add heat, turn signals and blind spot alerts. We carry 184 mirrors from $17 to $823 from Action Crash, Dorman, TYC, Brock and CIPA, with strong coverage for Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford F150, Silverado 2500 HD and Impala.

Driver side, passenger side or pair

Mirrors are listed by position. Left means the driver side and right means the passenger side on US vehicles. You can buy a single mirror assembly or a left and right set, and some towing mirror sets include extra parts such as a power-fold upgrade kit.

If only the glass is cracked and the housing and motor are fine, a glass replacement may be enough. If the housing is broken, the mirror hangs loose or the power adjust has stopped working, a full assembly is usually the simpler fix.

Match the features you already have

Mirror assemblies differ in power or manual adjust, heated glass, turn signal indicators, blind spot indicators, puddle lights and power folding. Each feature adds wires, so the connector on a new mirror must match your door harness. A heated mirror with turn signal on a Tahoe, for example, will not plug into a base trim that lacks those circuits.

Finish matters too. Options here include chrome, black, textured black and paint to match covers that you can have painted to your body color.

Towing mirrors and fitment

Towing mirrors, such as the sets from Brock, extend farther out so you can see past a wide trailer. They are popular on F150, F250 Super Duty and Silverado pickups. Check whether the set is manual or power, and whether it keeps your heat and signal functions.

Use the fitment table to confirm year, model and trim, and compare the old mirror's part number when you can find it. Most mirrors bolt on from inside the door after you remove the door panel or a small trim cover.

Mirror questions

How do I know if my mirror is heated?

Many heated mirrors have a small heat symbol printed on the glass. You can also check whether the mirror warms when you turn on the rear defroster. Your window sticker or trim level is another way to confirm it.

Can I replace just the mirror glass?

Yes, when the housing, motor and wiring are fine. Glass usually snaps or sticks onto a backing plate. If the housing is cracked or the mirror will not adjust, buy the full mirror assembly instead.

Do I need to remove the door panel to install a mirror?

On many vehicles you do, because the mounting nuts and connector sit behind the door panel. Some trucks and SUVs only need a small triangular trim cover removed. Disconnect the connector carefully before you lift the old mirror away.
