Escape mirror fitment by design

The 2005-2007 and 2008-2012 Escape use different mirror assemblies and glass, so start with your body generation. Drive type and engine do not change the mirror. Equipment does. Listings here split power mirrors by heated or non-heated glass, black or textured finish, and whether the glass has an integrated spotter section. Some Hybrid listings call for a second design mirror.

Pick the side next. Driver side is left and passenger side is right, and each listing is for one side. Then compare the plug shape and wire count with your old mirror. Some 2008-2012 mirrors are listed as three-wire units, but wire count alone does not prove every feature matches.

Why Escape mirrors get replaced

Most mirrors are replaced after a hit from a garage door frame, a parking lot bump or a passing vehicle. Look for a cracked housing, broken mounting points or a mirror that will not hold its position. If only the glass is broken and the housing and motor still work, a full assembly may not be needed.

Power mirrors also fail electrically. The glass may not move, may move one way only, or the motor hums without moving it. On heated mirrors, the glass may stay fogged while the rear defroster works. Damaged wiring or a loose connector causes intermittent trouble too, so check the plug before you buy.

Installing an Escape door mirror

Make sure the new mirror matches your features. A non-heated mirror will bolt on to a heated-mirror door but will not clear frost, and a mirror with the wrong plug may mount but not work. Read whether the listing is a complete assembly, glass only or a cover.

To swap a full mirror, remove the interior door trim or access cover to reach the mounting nuts and the connector. Unplug the connector before you take off the old mirror. Fit the new one, plug it in and test the power adjustment and heat, if equipped, before you put the trim back on.

Escape questions

Will a 2005-2007 Escape mirror fit a 2008-2012 Escape?

No. The 2008 redesign brought different mirror assemblies and glass. Choose the listing for your body generation, then match side, heat and glass type. Each listing covers one side only.

How do I know if my Escape has heated mirrors?

Check for a heated mirror icon on the glass, see if the mirror clears when you run the rear defroster, and compare the connector wires. Listings here say with or without heated glass, so match yours.

Do Escape mirrors come as a pair?

No. Each mirror here is sold for one side, driver or passenger. Order both if both sides are damaged, and match the features on each side.
