Tahoe rotor fitment breaks
This range covers four Tahoe bodies. 2006 is the last year of the older design, 2007-2014 is the next, 2015-2020 follows, and 2021 starts a new generation. A rotor from one group should not be assumed to fit the next, so a 2006 rotor is not a 2007 rotor.
Front and rear rotors are different parts. Within a generation, 2WD or 4WD, wheel size and brake package can change rotor size. Engine and trim alone are not reliable guides. Plain rotors fit either side, but drilled or slotted rotors like the Centric units here can be left or right specific. Compare diameter and thickness with the listing.
When Tahoe rotors are done
Shake in the steering wheel or a pulsing pedal when braking is the most common sign, often from uneven thickness or pad deposits. Deep grooves, hot spots, blue marks, heavy rust or cracks also call for replacement. If the pads wore to the backing plate and you hear grinding, the rotors are likely damaged.
Towing a trailer, carrying a full load and lots of hard stops wear rotors faster. A shake can also come from wheel bearing play, a sticking caliper or uneven lug nut torque, so check those too.
Pairs, kits and installation
Replace rotors in axle pairs and fit new pads with them. The TRQ, DuraGo and Detroit Axle pad and rotor kits cover an axle, or both axles, in one order. A rotor set gives you a matched pair.
With the SUV on jack stands, hang the caliper with wire instead of letting it dangle on the hose. Clean every bit of rust from the hub face and wipe the protective oil off the new rotors. Torque caliper bolts and lug nuts to spec. Pump the pedal until it is firm before moving, then bed in the pads.
