Side, body style and trim

Civic inner fender liners go by many names, including fender liner, wheel well liner and splash shield. Fitment follows the generation, body style, trim and side. Treat 2001-2005, 2006-2011 and 2012 cars as separate groups.

Within a group, the notes matter. Some liners here fit both sedan and coupe, while others are for DX and DX-G sedans only, DX and LX coupes, coupes without the Si package, or the Hybrid. Materials also vary, from plain PP plastic to injection molded plastic with insulating foam. Compare the mounting holes and shape with your old liner and confirm the side before you order.

Why liners need replacing

Fender liners take a beating from road debris, curbs, tire rub, collisions and poorly placed jacks. Mounting holes tear out after repairs, and old plastic cracks or goes missing.

A damaged or missing liner lets water, mud and debris reach the bumper, fender, wiring and engine bay. A loose liner usually makes itself known with rubbing, flapping or scraping, especially when you turn or drive at speed. If you hear that from a front wheel, look inside the wheel opening for a torn or hanging liner.

Installing a new liner

Each listing here is a single liner for one side, so order both sides if both are damaged. Some kits for these cars also include the engine splash shield, so check that part too if the lower front took a hit.

Removing the wheel makes the job easier if access is tight. Civics use a mix of push pins, screws, bolts and clip-on U-nuts, so replace any that are broken or missing. Line up every hole before you tighten anything, and do not force the liner into place. Turn the wheel lock to lock afterward to make sure the tire does not rub.

Civic questions

Do Civic sedan and coupe fender liners interchange?

Some do and some do not. Several liners here fit both sedan and coupe, while others are for a specific body, trim or the Hybrid. Read the notes on each listing before you order.

Why does my Civic make a scraping noise when I turn?

A loose or torn front fender liner often rubs on the tire when you turn or drive at speed. Check inside the wheel opening for a hanging liner or missing fasteners.

Do Civic fender liners come with clips?

Usually the liner is sold alone. Civics use push pins, screws, bolts and U-nuts, so replace any broken or missing fasteners when you install the new liner.
