Camaro heater hose fitment
Heater hoses are specific to engine, year and position. The 1985-1992 Camaro, the 1993-2002 Camaro and the 2010-2015 Camaro each route their hoses differently, and engines within a generation do too. On some 1985 cars, A/C and non-A/C setups use different hoses.
Every hose here names its position, such as heater to engine, tee to engine, heater to pipe or pipe to throttle body, so find the one that leaks. Then match inside diameter, length and molded bends. Sizes range from 3/8 inch to 7/8 inch across these years, and some hoses are straight while others are molded to shape. Check the end fittings too.
Signs of a failing heater hose
Heater hoses wear out from heat, pressure cycles and age. Squeeze a cool hose. A good one feels firm, while a bad one feels soft, swollen, crunchy or hard. Look for cracks, rubbed spots and crusty coolant residue at the ends.
A leaking heater hose costs you coolant, so you may notice a sweet coolant smell, a low coolant level, overheating or weak cabin heat. Those symptoms can also come from the heater core, thermostat, water pump, radiator or air trapped in the system, so find the leak before you order.
Replacing Camaro heater hoses
If one hose has failed, the others are usually the same age. Buying the full set for your engine saves doing the job twice. On 1995-2002 cars, GM listed a combined heater inlet and outlet hose assembly.
Work on a cool engine. Drain the coolant below the hose level, loosen the clamps and work the old hose off the heater core and engine fittings without bending the core tubes. Clean the fittings, fit the new hose and use new clamps if the old ones are weak. Route it as the original was, clear of belts and exhaust. Refill and bleed the cooling system, then check for leaks.

Camaro questions
Which heater hose do I need for my Camaro?
It depends on your engine and which hose leaks. Each listing here names a position, such as heater to engine or tee to engine. Match the position, diameter and shape with your old hose.
Is there a heater hose kit for a 1995-2002 Camaro?
GM listed a combined heater inlet and outlet hose assembly for these years. Confirm it fits your engine in the fitment table, as engines and production details can change the part.
Do I need to bleed the cooling system after changing a Camaro heater hose?
Yes. Refill with coolant and bleed out trapped air after the job. Air pockets can cause poor heat or overheating, so recheck the coolant level after the engine warms up and cools down.
