2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Turbochargers

Buy Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD turbochargers online for 2002-2016 trucks with the 6.6L Duramax diesel. The list holds 16 turbochargers from $599.95 to $2,339.97, from AC Delco, A1 Cardone, Mahle, Rotomaster, Dorman and Standard Motor Products. Gas 6.0L and 8.1L trucks do not use a turbo, and the right unit depends on which Duramax engine code your truck has.

Pick the turbo by Duramax code

Cab, bed, trim and 2WD or 4WD do not usually decide turbo fitment. The engine generation and build date do. The LB7 of 2002 to early 2004 uses an IHI fixed-geometry turbo with a wastegate. The LLY of late 2004-2005, the LBZ of 2006-2007, the LMM of 2007.5-2010 and the LML of 2011-2016 all use Garrett variable-geometry turbos, but the part numbers differ by engine and emissions setup.

The 2004 and 2007 model years are split years, so confirm the engine code from the VIN, the emissions label or the tag on your old turbo. Variable-geometry units also have an electronic vane actuator and connector that must match your engine.

Signs of turbo trouble

Common symptoms are low or erratic boost, weak power under load, slow spool, heavy smoke, a whistle or grinding noise, oil in the intake tract and high exhaust temperature. On LLY, LBZ, LMM and LML trucks, sticking vanes or an actuator fault can cause low boost or limp mode, and on the LML it can affect the factory exhaust brake.

Low boost does not prove the turbo is bad. Pressure-test the charge air system first, especially on the LB7, and check boots, clamps, pipes and the intercooler. On LMM and later engines, soot in the vane mechanism can mimic a failed turbo.

Before you install a new turbo

Make sure you are buying a complete turbocharger and not a center cartridge or actuator, unless that is what you need. Renew the inlet, outlet, oil feed and drain seals and gaskets.

Check the oil feed line and drain-back passage for restriction, because a blocked line can ruin the new unit. Prime the turbo with clean engine oil before the first start. Clean or replace any oil-soaked charge pipes and inspect the intercooler, and fix whatever caused the first failure. Access and tools vary by engine and by 2WD or 4WD chassis, so follow the service procedure for your engine.

Silverado 2500 HD questions

Does an LB7 turbo fit an LMM Silverado 2500 HD?

No. The LB7 uses a fixed-geometry wastegated turbo, while the LMM uses a variable-geometry turbo with an electronic actuator. Match your Duramax engine code to the fitment table on each listing.

How do I know which Duramax engine my 2007 Silverado 2500 HD has?

The 2007 model year was split between the LBZ and the LMM. Check the engine code in your VIN, the emissions label under the hood, or the tag on the original turbo before you order.

Does a gas Silverado 2500 HD need a turbocharger?

No. The 6.0L and 8.1L gas engines in these trucks are not turbocharged, so they have no turbo to replace. Every turbocharger on this page is for the 6.6L Duramax diesel.
