Some fit across several GM trucks, so read each listing's fitment notes for exclusions such as 2 inch body raise or 22 inch wheels.

Sierra hoist fitment by body
The hoist is the winch under the rear of the bed that holds the spare. Many 1999-2006 GMT800 trucks use a commonly listed hoist, with Dorman 924-510 among the usual references. The 2007-2013 GMT900 and 2014-2018 K2XX trucks have their own listings, and the 2019-2020 new-body Sierra uses a different hoist family.
Two years need extra care. For 2007, confirm whether you have a Sierra Classic or the new body. For 2019, confirm whether you have the carryover Sierra 1500 Limited or the new truck. Some listings exclude trucks with a 2 inch body raise or 22 inch wheels, so check those notes in the fitment table.
Why Sierra spare hoists fail
The hoist lives under the truck, exposed to water and road salt, so corrosion and seizure are the common failures. Typical signs are a spare that will not lower, will not raise or will not hold tight, a cable that winds unevenly and a crank that turns without moving the tire.
Before you buy a new hoist, rule out the simple parts. A bent access rod, a damaged crank interface or a broken spare tire support can cause similar trouble. Under-bed impacts and attempted theft can also damage the hoist, so check the frame attachment and the cable.
Replacing the hoist
Check what each listing includes. Some are the hoist assembly only, and others add the cable, wheel retainer or mounting hardware. Compare the mounting tab or hook, the bolt location, the cable exit and the crank access point with your old hoist before you order.
Remove the spare, or support it safely, before you unbolt the hoist. The replacement usually bolts in where the old one came off. On 2019-2020 trucks one supplier describes a frame-slot tab and a single bolt. While you are under the truck, inspect the cable, retainer and frame slot for rust, and test the hoist before you load the spare.

Sierra 1500 questions
Will a 1999-2006 Sierra spare tire hoist fit a 2019 Sierra 1500?
Not the new-body 2019 truck, which uses a different hoist family. The 2019 Sierra 1500 Limited is a carryover model and may share earlier listings, so confirm which truck you have.
Why are some hoists listed for a Silverado 2500 or Sierra HD?
GM shared spare tire hoists across several trucks, so one hoist can be cataloged for the Sierra 1500 and heavier models. Check the fitment table for your exact Sierra 1500 year, cab and any exclusions.
Does a Sierra spare tire hoist come with the cable?
Contents vary by listing. Some sell the hoist assembly only, while others add the cable, wheel retainer or hardware. Check the description before you order.
