Engine and emissions fitment
Accord EGR valve fitment follows the engine, emissions setup and sometimes the transmission, not the trim. The 1990-1993 and 1994-1997 cars used 2.2L four-cylinder engines, but do not treat every 2.2L valve as the same. The 1998-2002 cars ran the 2.3L four or the 3.0L V6, and the 2003-2007 cars the 2.4L four or the 3.0L V6, including the 3.0L hybrid.
The four-cylinder and V6 use different valve designs, even when a catalog groups them. Compare the mounting flange, valve shape, port layout and electrical connector or vacuum port with your old valve. Check the emissions label and engine code when the year shows more than one option.
Symptoms of a bad EGR valve
Carbon builds up in the valve and in the EGR passages over time. A sticking or blocked valve can set a check engine light and an EGR code. A valve that will not open can cause pinging or rattling under load. One stuck open can cause a rough or unstable idle, hesitation and stalling.
A code alone does not prove the valve is bad. Clogged passages, wiring, the control solenoid, sensors and vacuum supply can cause the same fault. Use the Honda test procedure before you buy.
Installing and cleaning up
Some listings are the valve only, and the EGR gasket is often a separate part. Plan to fit a new gasket either way. Let the engine cool, unplug the connector or vacuum line, and remove the mounting bolts. Penetrating oil helps on rusted fasteners.
With the valve out, clean the mating surfaces and the EGR passages. A blocked passage can bring the same code right back with a new valve. Reinstall, clear the code and confirm the repair with the test procedure for your engine. Standard Motor Products lists several EGR valves for the Accord here.

Accord questions
Do the 4-cylinder and V6 Honda Accord use the same EGR valve?
No. The 2.3L or 2.4L four-cylinder and the 3.0L V6 use different valve designs and controls. Choose your engine in the fitment table first, then compare the flange and connector.
Can a clogged passage cause an EGR code on my Accord?
Yes. Carbon in the EGR passages can trigger the same code as a failed valve. Clean the passages when you replace the valve, or the code may come back.
Does an Accord EGR valve come with a gasket?
Not always. Some listings are the valve only, and Honda catalogs the gasket as a separate part. Check the product details and order a gasket if one is not included.
