The 2005-2009 and 2010-2017 Equinox are different generations, and their control arms do not interchange. Within each, check the position first. Most arms here are front lower arms, sold separately for the left and right sides, and a Moog rear right lower rearward arm is also listed.
The 2005-2009 listings often name the 3.4L V6, LS or LT trim and FWD, and one excludes Sport models, so match those details. For 2010-2017, drive type and engine can matter. Confirm whether the part is a complete arm with bushings and ball joint or a bare arm, and use your VIN when the catalog offers it.
Worn bushings and ball joints are the usual reason to replace the arm. Listen for clunking, knocking or squeaking over bumps. Severe bushing wear can let metal touch metal and cause a hard knock. You may also feel the steering wander, a pull to one side, especially under braking, or find that the alignment will not stay in spec.
Uneven tire wear is another clue. A pothole or curb strike can also bend the arm. These symptoms overlap with worn tie rods, struts and sway bar links, so inspect the whole front end before you order.
Buying the arm as an assembly with the ball joint and bushings already pressed in saves a lot of shop work. Kits such as the TRQ control arm and sway bar link kit add related parts. Most listings are a single arm, so order the other side separately if it is also worn.
Support the vehicle on jack stands, remove the wheel, separate the ball joint from the knuckle and unbolt the arm from the body. Tighten the bushing bolts with the suspension at normal ride height so the rubber is not twisted. Check the tie rod ends and sway bar links while you are there, and get a wheel alignment afterward.
Read our control arms buying guide for how the part works and what to look for in any vehicle.
No. They are different generations with different arms. Do not use a part number from one generation on the other without a confirmed interchange. Pick your year in the fitment table.
Many listings here are control arm and ball joint assemblies, while others are the arm alone. Read the product name and description to see what is included before you order.
Yes. The control arm locates the wheel, so changing it can alter alignment. Get a wheel alignment after the job to protect your tires. Uneven tire wear after the repair is a sign the alignment is off.
