Corvette fuel pump by fuel system
Corvette pumps follow the fuel system. The 1962 car and carbureted 1963-1981 cars use an engine-mounted mechanical pump that varies with engine and carburetor. The 1982 Cross-Fire Injection car brought an electric system, and the 1984-1996 C4 uses an in-tank electric pump that varies by engine, sender and connector.
The 1997-2004 C5 and the 2005-2013 C6 use in-tank modules, and Z06, Grand Sport and ZR1 models should be checked apart from base cars. The 2014-2019 C7 has both an in-tank pump and an engine-mounted high-pressure pump. Listings here name positions such as left or in-tank, and engine codes such as the 5.7L VIN 8, P and 5.
Signs of a failing Corvette pump
Electric pumps wear out with age, and rust, debris or a clogged strainer makes them work harder. Watch for a whine or buzz from the tank area, long cranking, a crank-no-start, hesitation, sputtering, power loss under load and stalling. On mechanical pumps, look for fuel leaks at the pump body as well as hard starting and stalling.
A fuel gauge that sticks, jumps around or suddenly reads empty points to the sending unit, which can fail while the pump still runs. On a C7, high-pressure pump faults can cause hesitation, stalling, reduced power and pressure codes, so measure pressure to see which pump is at fault.
Choosing and fitting the pump
Read each listing to see if it is a pump motor, a pump and strainer kit, a complete module or a module with sender. Match the connector, terminal layout, outlet lines, pressure rating and module orientation to your original. If your C3 or older car has a modified fuel system, check what is actually installed rather than going by the year.
For in-tank work, disconnect the battery, relieve fuel pressure and keep sparks away. Fit a new strainer and tank seal when supplied, and check the tank for rust and debris before the new pump goes in. Prime the system and check every connection for leaks before you start the engine.

Corvette questions
Does a carbureted Corvette use an electric fuel pump?
Most carbureted Corvettes from 1962 to 1981 use an engine-mounted mechanical pump. Only fit an electric in-tank pump if your car has a converted fuel system, and check what is installed before ordering.
Why does my Corvette fuel gauge read wrong after a pump failure?
The sending unit can fail separately from the pump, causing a stuck or erratic gauge. Some listings here include the sender with the pump, so check what each one contains.
Is the C7 high-pressure fuel pump the same as the tank pump?
No. The 2014-2019 C7 has an in-tank low-pressure pump and a separate engine-mounted high-pressure pump for direct injection. Confirm which one has failed before you order.
