Chevrolet Corvette Reference Sensors
Buy Chevrolet Corvette reference sensors online for 1992-2016 cars. On a Corvette, a reference sensor usually means the crankshaft position sensor, and sometimes a camshaft sensor. You will find 15 sensors from $12.73 to $66.98 by AC Delco, Dorman, SKP, Forecast, Prenco and DIY Solutions, with fitment shown by engine, from the 5.7L LS1 to the 7.0L LS7.

Generation and engine fitment
This page covers four generations: the C4 from 1992-1996, the C5 from 1997-2004, the C6 from 2005-2013 and the C7 from 2014-2016. Each uses different engine electronics, so a sensor for one should not be assumed to fit another. Within a generation the engine matters too. Fitment samples here include the 5.7L LS1, the DOHC 5.7L, the 6.2L LS3, the 7.0L LS7 and the Grand Sport 6.2L.
Trim names such as Z06, Grand Sport and ZR1 often point to a different engine. First confirm whether you need a crank or cam sensor, then match the location, the connector and the number molded on your old sensor.
Symptoms of a bad crank sensor
A failing crank sensor can cause a crank-no-start, long cranking, stalling that comes and goes, misfires, rough running, hesitation and a check engine light. Codes P0335 and P0336 are common, but a code alone does not prove the sensor is bad.
On C6 cars, heat and oil exposure are reported to cause crank sensor trouble. A tachometer that reads zero or jumps around while cranking is a useful clue, though not a final answer. Damaged wiring or a faulty reluctor wheel can cause the same symptoms.
Installing the new sensor
A crankshaft position sensor is a single sensor, so you only need one unless the listing is a kit. On C6 cars it sits on the passenger side of the block above the starter, and the starter has to come out to reach it.
While you have access, check the connector, wiring and O-ring seal and replace any that are damaged. After a crank sensor swap, a crankshaft variation relearn may be needed with a scan tool, following the service procedure for your engine. AC Delco crank sensors for the Corvette are among the options here.

Corvette questions
What is a reference sensor on a Corvette?
On most Corvette listings it means the crankshaft position sensor, which tells the engine computer the crank position and speed. Some listings use the term for a camshaft sensor, so read the product details before ordering.
Where is the crank sensor on a C6 Corvette?
It is on the passenger side of the engine block, above the starter. You have to remove the starter to reach it, so plan for that when you do the job.
Do I need a relearn after replacing my Corvette crank sensor?
A crankshaft variation relearn may be required, done with a suitable scan tool and the service procedure for your engine. Requirements vary by year and engine.
