Equinox link fitment and sides
The links here are front links that connect the stabilizer bar to the suspension. The 2005-2009 and 2010-2017 Equinox fall into different catalog groups, so start with your year. On 2008-2009, the Sport and SS models with the 3.6L engine are cataloged separately from the standard 3.4L trucks.
Many links are side-specific. Mevotech, for example, lists the GK80460 for the front right and the GK80461 for the front left. Check whether a listing is one link or a pair, and compare length, stud direction and hardware with your old part. FWD versus AWD, engine and trim can also matter, so use the fitment table or your VIN.
Symptoms of a bad sway bar link
The classic sign is a clunk or rattle from the front when you drive over bumps or broken pavement at low speed. Worn ball joints in the link develop play you can feel by hand, and torn boots let in water and grit that speed up the wear. You may also notice more body roll or a loose feel in corners.
The same noise can come from sway bar bushings, struts, ball joints or tie rod ends, so check the whole front end with the vehicle raised before you decide the link is the culprit. Pothole impacts and corrosion are common reasons links wear out.
Replacing Equinox sway bar links
This is one of the easier suspension jobs. Raise the vehicle, support it on jack stands and remove the wheel if you need room. Hold the link stud by its flats with a wrench while you turn the nut, because the stud tends to spin.
Check the opposite link and the sway bar bushings while you are under there. Replacing both front links together is your choice, not a factory rule, but it makes sense when both are loose. Torque the new nuts to the factory value for your model. An alignment is not normally needed for a link alone unless you disturbed other steering or suspension parts.

Equinox questions
Are the left and right front sway bar links the same on an Equinox?
Many are not. Several brands list separate front left and front right links for the Equinox, while some kits include both. Check the position in each listing before you order.
Does a 2008 Equinox SS use the same sway bar link as an LS?
Not necessarily. The 2008-2009 Sport and SS models with the 3.6L engine are cataloged separately from standard 3.4L applications. Confirm your trim and engine in the fitment table.
Do I need an alignment after replacing an Equinox sway bar link?
Not normally for a sway bar link by itself. If you also replaced struts, tie rods or other steering and suspension parts, get an alignment.
